A Passion for Design
Laura Nicolson is the designer behind the independent home accessories and fabric design label Lauraloves.
After getting a degree in Printed Textiles from Edinburgh College of Art, Laura's love for prints blossomed while working in London as a Senior Print Designer at a well-known fashion textile company. Taking inspiration from flowers (her favourites being Hydrangeas and Peony Roses) and the Kent countryside, she founded her own label in 2010 and her contemporary-classic designs have since been featured in magazines including Good Homes, Inside Kent, Period Ideas, and Wealden Times. Sustainability and creative integrity are at the core of the label and all Lauraloves fabrics are designed using Laura’s drawings, paintings and photography and are produced in natural fabrics right here in the UK.
In addition to a line of ready-to-enjoy cushions and home accessories, she also creates bespoke prints, fabrics and accessories for interior designers and private clients. Laura loves collaborating to make truly unique pieces that beautifully integrate into a client’s home, whether it's a one-off cushion or a collection of fabrics that feature throughout a family home.
If Laura's aesthetic looks familiar, it may be because you've seen her design work in high street staples including Anthropologie, Fat Face, Roxy Quicksilver, Coast, and Ann Taylor or on the shelves of luxury retailers Harrods or Bentalls of Fenwicks. Though she’s happiest when she’s researching a collection or in the throes of a custom design, she still gets out from behind the work table to take full advantage of the opportunities that surround her in her home of Tonbridge, Kent. When she’s not in her studio, you can find her walking through the countryside with her dog, Sophie, working amongst the flowers in her garden, or soaking up inspiration in an art gallery.
