Bespoke Headboard Design

I have been looking back on some of the bespoke fabric design projects I have worked on over the years, this is one of my favourites.

The lovely Nicky Percival a local Interior Designer commissioned me to design a bespoke fabric for a headboard she was having made for her holiday cottage project in Cranbrook, Kent.

I met with Nicky and showed her some of my design work and we discussed her vision for the bespoke headboard and decor of the bedroom. I firstly researched patterned headboards and then started by putting together the floral art work and choosing the colour palette from my fabric colour charts.

I presented the initial designs to Nicky and we made a few alterations before printing our first test strip of the fabric. I like to make sure the colours work before printing a large piece like this.

The final fabric design was printed and it looked fantastic, Nicky had the headboard made by her upholsterer. Doesn’t the studded detailing add the finishing touch. It was now time for the headboard to be installed into the pretty bedroom of Violet Cottage ready for her Guests to enjoy. And what a statement it makes!
